The Kona Way
Great bikes and big fun, at Kona it’s what drives us to build bicycles the way we do. A huge
part of delivering on this promise is function and durability. Our bikes are designed to not
only perform exceptionally well, but perform exceptionally well for a long period of time.
There’s a reason you see 10-year-old Kona’s ripping the streets and trails of your hometown.
There’s a reason why, 10 years from now, you’ll be seeing the bikes we build today.
As we invite you to explore the technologies that go into building Kona bicycles, keep in mind
the aforementioned. Great bikes and big fun. Riding bikes is a blast, and we take great measures
to ensure that a Kona bike delivers on the fun side of the equation. Our innovations, designs,
materials and technologies have everything to do with putting a smile on your face. They also
have everything to do with keeping it there for a long, long time.
The Kona Scandium Story
When it comes to designing and building bikes, there are a ton of materials available to us here
at Kona. And over the years, we’ve pretty much tried them all: steel, titanium, carbon fiber,
aluminum, you name it.
But when it comes to building our values into the performance virtues of our bikes—innovation,
function, durability and big fun—we’ve found that one material in particular does the job
exceptionally well. Read MORE HERE>>
The Kona 4-Bar Philosophy - Dual Suspension
At Kona, our core group has spent a ton of hours owning, managing and working in bike shops.
And if there’s one thing that’s stuck with us from those days, it was servicing bikes that were
constantly breaking down. We don’t want to tinker and fix, we want to ride. So we build bikes that
not only work well, but last a real long time.
That’s why we’re so attached to the Kona Walking Beam 4-Bar Linkage system, found across our
entire line of dual suspension bikes. Since we first introduced the platform in 1996, we’ve been tweaking
and honing, refining and testing, in the effort of perfecting what we feel is one of the most functional,
durable and performance-oriented dual suspension platforms ever invented. That’s why you see
versions of our 4-Bar linkage on everything from the Hei Hei XC Race Bike to our Stab Suprem. Read MORE HERE>>
The Kona Magic Link
We just finished explaining why Kona refuses to incorporate complicated multi-link suspension
designs in our line of bicycles, and now, here we are, releasing a new platform called Magic Link.
Every bike and suspension company struggles to find the balance between plush, active suspension
and pedaling efficiency. Kona is no different. We’re constantly striving to provide the best combination
of function and durability across our entire range of bikes. Magic Link is our response to this ongoing
quest as it applies to a specific, fast-emerging genre of bicycles, Enduro/Freeride. Bikes that need to
go up as good as they go down. Read MORE HERE>>
