White’s Level
Starting from the Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre the trail gets going with a long climb loaded with tight turns and technical challenges. It really wakes you up and gets you warmed up for things to follow. On the last part of the climb the 1st timed section can be found. When reaching the top (Windy Point) you will either dive straight into the black run, carry on towards the Windy Point single track section or head down the July Trail (more below). Windy Point is the main ‘meeting point’ out on course with drink stations, a mobile Dropoff Café setup (weather permitting) and some places to just chill out. If you entered the TECHNICAL category then you will go down the black run and find the next technical section after the 2nd gate. If you are riding in the ENDURO category then you will head down the Windy Point single track section (3rd timed section) before coming to the newly added Energy Section. This swoopy section is awaiting with jumps, tight burms and the occasional uphill. Once Energy comes to an end the riders will get the chance to leisurely cruise along the Goodwood single track section before finishing off the White’s Level with the last timed section on the Darkside. This course clearly offers something for everyone.
Here are the profiles: The White’s Level course - without the black run: Roughly 15km long and has 525m of climbing.
The White’s Level course - including the black run: Roughly 18km long and has 615 climbing.
July Trail
The July trail is basically the beginning and the end of the Skyline trail. The course is the same as the White’s level up to the top of the climb at Windy Point. The timed climb is the same for both courses. Once passed Windy point the riders can enjoy a forest road section – ideal for riding next to each other and chatting. Then the 2nd timed section is awaiting at the Heartburn trail - a peddly single track section where keeping the momentum is key. Heartburn is followed by some more relaxing forest roads before the Joyrider timed section will put riders through their paces. The July trail finishes off with the infamous Skyline descent (called Jetlag) which is the last timed section before the well deserved finish back at the centre.
Here is the profile: The July Trail course - Roughly 21km long and has 840m of climbing.
To clarify once more – the ENDURO riders have to ride both courses (one after the other – so you are doing the climb up to windy point twice) and the TECHNICAL riders only ride the White’s Level course (including the black run).
